This image is similar to the other two "Worth the Effort" images posted earlier. This version highlights more of the wildflowers in the meadows foreground. However, and just like the previous posting, either via Kautz Creek or Rampart Ridge, the hike to Indian Henry's Hunting Ground in Mt Rainier National Park is a grueling combination of distance and elevation gain, but the payoff at the culmination of the hike more than compensates any hiker. The last remaining patrol cabin nestles in a meadow at the base of Mt Rainier is always a picture perfect take your breath away vista.
In the dimming light he smiles with memories of their steep march up to this perfect perch to share with friends while the sandstone burned red about them. This quote is from the poem Last Light by Doug Scrima.
